MID DEL SCHOOL DISTRICT is Hiring a Director of Accounting Near Midwest, OK

SALARY SCHEDULE: DIRECTOR 1 – DEGREED NON-CERTIFIED
DEPARTMENT: FINANCE
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
SAFETY-SENSITIVE: NO
POSITION SUMMARY:
Prepare, and timely submit, required state and federal financial reports. Provide reports and necessary information to district personnel and auditors. Monitor financial accounting system and make adjustments as necessary. Supervise and provide support for Purchasing and Accounts Payable.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration is required
  • At least three years school finance related experience and/or training
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Requires intermediate skills in the use of computer and computer software for Excel spreadsheets. Knowledge and use of pivot tables and v-look up are required.
  • Employee must be reliable, dependable, require minimum supervision, very professional and maintain confidential information of sensitive nature. Must have neatness in appearance, courteous and tactful in dealing with others in person or by telephone.
  • Monitors accounting system for proper balances, prepare adjusting journal entries and assist CFO in yearly financial accounting system closing.
  • Prepare required state and federal finance related compliance documents for the district. Examples include OCAS, 1099 reporting, and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) report.
  • Prepare district financial reports as requested. Examples are annual negotiations spreadsheets, salary schedules, bond fund reports, and department and school site budgets.
  • Coordinate with auditors on annual audit, provide reports, and answer questions as needed.
  • Prepare all fixed asset related reports including Construction in process and depreciation reports related to fixed assets of the district and manage Munis fixed assets system.
  • Assist with monthly production of and review of monthly Financial Report, Supplemental Report, and Lease Revenue Bond Report for the Board and Superintendent.
  • Responsible for supervision of Purchasing and Accounts Payable department.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor and above.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
