SALARY SCHEDULE: MDTC Teacher Salary Schedule
Starting at $58,900
191 Day Contract
Hours 7:30 am -3:00 pm

POSITION SUMMARY:
This instructor position teaches academic subjects to students enrolled in the MDTC RISE (Credit Recovery) program using self-paced, online applications and other instructional delivery methods as necessary. They will perform responsible instructional duties under limited supervision in a classroom setting; preparing students for graduation, providing grades and progress reports, conducting high school credit checks and advising supervisors concerning needs of the classroom.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 3 years teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with grades 9-12 with an endorsement in English, Math, Science or Social Studies.
  • Experience working with at-risk and/or special populations preferred.
  • Experience with Career Technical Education preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Instructs students using self-paced, online applications (e.g., Edgenuity) and a variety of other methods (i.e., project-based learning, hands-on activities, work-based learning and demonstrations) using audio/visual aids, technology, and other materials to supplement instruction. Ensures student engagement throughout the day by using strategies to guide, assist and encourage students.
  • Works within a Learning Management Systems (LMS) and instructional applications to individualize instruction and learning based on ability and experience levels of students while meeting the state standards and requirements in each subject area.
  • Establishes and maintains an advisory committee including education and industry professionals and other essential stakeholders.
  • Objectively administers and evaluates assignments, projects, quizzes and tests to determine student progress; provide timely feedback and adjust instruction as needed. Records student grades in student information management applications. Communicates issues (via written, verbal and in person) and progress reports to parents.
  • Clearly communicates curriculum and information to various stakeholders in person or via email, online Learning Management System (LMS), online Student Information System (SIS) and/or video conferencing software.
  • Manages the classroom effectively, sets high expectations and monitors students at all times. Assists students with developing employability skills and prepares students for employment upon completion of the program.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher-training workshops, advisory committee meetings, student recruiting/promotional school events and parent/teacher conferences. Participates in IEP/504 meetings when appropriate and adapts lessons to meet the needs of all students, including those with special needs.
  • Collaborates with other staff members to develop and deliver Career Technical Education (CTE) learning opportunities for students and ensures that all students complete CTE requirements of the program.
  • Communicates with sending high school counselors, Career Tech counselors and administration regarding student progress, grades, attendance and discipline.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
