Summary:
This position is responsible for the warehouse and inventory management across all of Hutchinson Manufacturing Holdings, LLC facilities. This includes not only effectively managing personnel, but this position also requires documenting and successfully implementing processes related to the following areas listed below. This position will require travel between all facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
- Effectively receiving, unloading, and inspecting of materials
- Timely entry of all accepted materials into ERP
- Picking of materials as required per pick list and/or job information and staging of product accordingly.
- Ensuring on-time delivery of staged materials to the production floor work center as indicated by job.
- Movement of materials from location to other locations as needed for job completion.
- Ensuring on-time shipment of finished goods to the customer, entry of status into ERP and tracking product as needed to always ensure visibility of shipping status.
- Cycle counting and inventory accuracy.
- Accomplishes warehouse & inventory staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; working with HR for coaching and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
- Attend daily or weekly meetings set by leadership, production, HR, and other departments, as required.
- Oversee and coach employees.
Receiving and Inspection of Product
- Responsible for ensuring all supplier documentation properly reflects the part number(s), qty and other applicable identification per the corresponding Purchase Order information prior to unloading of materials.
- If the materials cannot be properly counted and/or evaluated to ensure quantity and materials match the Purchase Order, the product can first be carefully and safely unloaded to ensure no damage is caused during the unloading process.
- All materials must be inspected to ensure proper paperwork has been received, count is correct, that no unacceptable level of damage has occurred, and that any PO required material certifications are available and complete.
- In addition to the above, any required material sample inspection shall be completed and documented as defined per the SOP and/or QP.
Product shall not be inventoried until:
- All system and documentation requirements have been completed per the SOP and/or QP.
- Quality has reviewed and approved receipt of material.
Inventorying of Materials
- Acceptable materials shall be inventoried in the proper location as designated by ERP and recorded accordingly. If a new location is required, the Manager will designate the location and enter it into the ERP system accordingly for inventory and cycle counting purposes.
- All materials must have a warehouse location entered in the appropriate location within ERP along with a PO reference, date, quantity received and by whom it was received and accepted.
Material Handling & Production Staging
- Picking of materials as required per pick list and/or job information and staging of product accordingly.
- Team is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of staged materials to the production floor work center as indicated by job.
- Pulling and loading of materials as indicated by Production job packet. This requires the team member(s) involved ensure proper identification and qty of material being pulled from either inventory of the production floor in support of timely movement of materials from location to other locations as needed for job completion. Those loading and/or driving the materials to the other location must ensure that material is not damaged prior to or during, any part of the delivery process.
Shipping
- Obtain scheduled shipment information from ERP and/or shipping schedule.
- Schedule shipments and plan logistics to ensure sufficient space as needed for and staff as needed to load the truck in a timely, effective, and safe manner.
- Check delivery drivers in and out through the day.
- Pull finished goods inventory from storage and ensure inventory location, customer information and part number all match shipping information.
- Quality check products while picking and packing.
- Prepare all required paperwork for shipments per SOP and/or QP.
- Verify orders are being accurately filled.
- Ensure correct packing techniques and materials for outgoing product meets customer requirements.
- Ensure shipments are properly identified, weighed, and labeled.
- Prepare bills of lading and maintain documentation of goods shipped.
- Print any additional shipment labels and customs documents where necessary.
- Notify manager of all schedule or order changes so that he/she can communicate with customers as deemed appropriate.
- Provide outbound detail reports and bills of lading.
- Track and update the status of outgoing shipments so that information is always readily available. Provide the customer with tracking information.
- Liaise with operations and logistics to ensure shipments are completed as scheduled.
- Prepare and maintain records of all products shipped.
- Enter daily activity information into electronic platforms, logs, or information board.
Cycle Counting
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper counting, processing of material reports, transfers. Enter information into ERP as noted in process.
- Complete physical inventories, cycle counts, random or receipt audits, and reconciliations on a daily, monthly, or quarterly basis
- Resolve all discrepancies in a timely manner through required research & capture of inventory discrepancies, system status, communication with others and/or your manager. Discrepancies include both cost and/or quantities.
- Ensure all materials are properly verified and are reflective of reported inventory regardless of ABC, Opportunity Based or Process Control cycle counting methodology.
- Work with Finance & ERP Specialist to define inventory accuracy metrics, monthly reporting format and report generation.
Other responsibilities:

Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
- 5 years of working experience related in a warehouse and/ or distribution center setting. Including 5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience with shipping software such as: Fed Ex, UPS, LTL, USPS, etc.
- Must have ERP experience, knowledge of Epicor ERP Software is a plus. ERP Receiving, Inventory and Shipping related experience as needed to properly navigate and understand related fields or willingness and ability to learn these functions.
- Must achieve & maintain a company forklift certification. Also understand how to safely operate a forklift; speeds, watching out for pedestrians, etc.
