As Room Attendant
Scope: The Room Attendant represents the hotel to our valued guests and has the responsibility for cleaning rooms/suites and various public areas in a timely and thorough manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
Report to: The Room Attendant reports directly to the General Manager and the Acting/Assistant General Manager.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Make every individual walking into hotel to feel welcomed and valued
· Treat all guests, coworkers, hotel vendors, and visitors to the building with the utmost respect regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, primary language spoken, or any other mental/physical limitations/differences
· Clean and service assign rooms or designated areas to established hotel standards and through established procedures
· Thoroughly clean specially designated area each day as directed by management
· Cleaning duties include but are not limited to making beds, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash, and picking up/cleaning whatever other requirements are necessary for providing a clean room to hotel standards (this may include kitchen areas, room refrigerator and microwave, coffee makers, cups glass, and silverware)
· Replenish guest amenities and supplies
· Ensure all door locks, door mechanisms, televisions, lights, phones, alarm clocks, and bathroom equipment is in proper working condition and plugged in and alerts the supervisor if needs attention beyond housekeeper’s ability
· Fill out maintenance requests for items needing attention from the maintenance staff
· Clean and service the hallways in the areas of the assigned rooms to the established standards and procedures including vacuuming, stain clean up, cleaning the hallway walls, door frames, door, and lock mechanisms
· Maintain storage rooms and the stocking of carts
· Stock housekeeping cart at the end of every shift with all required items for properly cleaning and maintain guestrooms
· Separate linen and rags into separate stacks before placing in proper areas
· Empty linen and terry into laundry bins
· Record room status on work assignment sheets
· Answer guest questions or immediately get in contact with a Front Desk staff attendant regarding questions about hotel services, facilities, and/or amenities
· Prepare rooms for guest arrivals and responding to special guest requests such as delivering newspapers, faxes, etc., cleaning a spill, or placing special items in room as directed by the Front Desk Staff
· Wear name tag and approved uniform when working
· Report, turn in, and/or log all lost and found items according to established hotel procedures
· On occasion, may be assigned to help with laundry, maintenance, outdoor cleaning, front desk activities, deep cleaning, and or breakfast duties
· Perform other hotel related duties as required
· Take and deliver messages to guests as needed
· Understand and use only properly designated chemicals for cleaning
· Attend required department meetings
· Help with the training of new housekeepers as assigned by management
· Check daily message board for any staff/daily updates
· Complete any assigned daily tasks as given by The Front Desk Manager, General Manager, or supervisor
· Report any suspicious behavior to a Front Desk Attendant immediately
Abilities: The Room Attendant must be able to multi-task as well as execute the following:
· Ability to handle and resolve guest problems and concerns
· Ability to work as part of a highly energetic team
· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
· Ability to follow supervisor’s direction
· Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed and scheduled by hotel management
· Willingness to work for individuals who are not able to come to work
Physical: The Room Attendant must be able to perform various physical feats. Job requires finger dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, visual activity, and may on occasion have to left and carry up to 50lbs. Must be able to push/or pull 150lbs, must be able to walk up steps and be able to lift objects above the head, must be able to frequently stand up and move about the facility, must frequently bend, stoop, and kneel and must frequently handle objects and equipment to maintain the hotel facility.
Experience: Hotel related experience is preferred but not required.
Requisites: The Room Attendant must:
· Be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace
