MicroBiologics is Hiring an Infrastructure Engineer Near Saint Cloud, MN

We are currently looking to add an Infrastructure Engineer to our team in St. Cloud, MN. 

We are seeking a person that is comfortable playing many spaces of technology and should be well versed in current trends. This person should be comfortable with Cisco switch and route, firewall NAT and policies, phone system migration experience, Active Directory and Azure Entra (Azure Sync), Microsoft 365 portfolio management, vulnerability management, security controls and policies (NIST 800-171 and ISO 27001 is a plus), building access control and security cameras, virtual hosts and guests, migration strategies to the cloud, Group Policies management (Intune a plus), ability to run and manage projects and reporting, vendor coordination, issue escalation and triage to level 4. This position is expected to travel at least once per quarter to our remote offices and to plan work and meetings with local stakeholders. This person will work very closely with the IT Operations Manager to drive solutions and take care of our internal customers.

What can I expect in this role?

This is a full-time salaried exempt position working Monday through Friday 8am - 5:00 pm. Hybrid onsite & remote.

Some key duties in this role include:

Systems Management

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Microsoft 365 portfolio, Microsoft server, virtualization technologies, SAN, firewall technologies, firewall security policies, NAT’s and DMZ, network L2/L3 configurations, VoIP telephony, SSO, Federation, Multifactor Authentication, backup and recovery technologies, and archiving strategies.
  • Ensuring proper licensing is tracked and maintained within infrastructure, including but not limited to systems, servers, CAL’s, firewalls, route/switch, endpoints, M365, telephony, MDM, and Infrastructure SaaS applications.
  • Participate in evaluating existing and future technologies and makes recommendations for software and hardware upgrades.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, capacity planning, and on-going life-cycle management of all infrastructure equipment, including our remote locations.
  • Ensuring systems are properly monitored and stay within acceptable operating parameters and service levels, communicating outages and slowdowns to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintaining system protocols, changes in architectures by documenting and updating changes & procedures.
  • Collaborating with internal resources, consultants/contractors to optimize system performance.
  • Participate in the evaluation of security logs and work with the Managed SOC on security incidents and infrastructure vulnerability management.

Service Desk Management

  • Working with and being the conduit for all L3/L4 escalated issues in a timely manner and managing request workflows and metrics.
  • Coordinate and work with vendors to identify and resolve escalated issues.
  • Provide technical mentoring and training for junior IT Operations team members.

Communication

  • Providing status reports and metrics to include available capacity, project pipeline, and technical challenges to management to support business operations tactically and strategically.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner with management, end users, coworkers, and vendors.

Change Control Management

  • Ensuring proper change control and notification procedures are followed to protect the stability and persistence of the production environment.

Project Coordination

  • Drive planning, coordination, testing, implementation, and support of assigned projects relating to upgrades, repairs and enhancements of the IT environment, including vendor coordination, telecommunications, network and storage infrastructure, endpoint and server, enterprise applications, etc.
  • Communicate and develop consensus with customers on projects, challenges, proposed solutions, and system changes.

Here is what we are looking for:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ technical support experience in a small-to-medium sized company full-time experience supporting the following enterprise systems: M365, network, server, storage, IT security and telephony.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing enterprise infrastructure projects.
  • Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general system management best practices.
