Michigan School Public Relations Association is Hiring a Coordinator Near Kearney, NE

Position Details

Position : Student Services Coordinator

Summary : The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for the performance of a variety of assigned tasks and activities to support staff that work with students with disabilities and their families.

This position works closely with the Pupil Accounting Specialist, Special Education Staff, School Counselors and Eaton RESA to assist the district in maintaining compliance with ADA and IDEA.

The position supports the Executive Director of Student Services and the Special Education Supervisor.

Reports to : Executive Director of Student Services

Position Type : 260 days per year / 40 hours per week / Salary based on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports staff with special education IEP database, MiPSE case manager assignment, worksheet Bs, MiPSE reports, technical support.
  • Maintains student databases and activities for Special Education programs, Extended School Year (ESY) programs, coordinates Homebound instructors, alternative educational placement tutoring and coordinating with outside agencies for ASL Interpreter, as requested.
  • Monitors new enrollments communicating with building / Special Education faculty for documentation and records from third parties for IEPs completion
  • Collaborates with Pupil Accountant on count data, State Validation Reports, FTE spreadsheets, Worksheet Bs and Enrollments.
  • Prepares and maintains Schools of Choice Cooperative Agreements communicating with resident districts.
  • Manages Office of Student Services Budget, expense accounts, Student Activity Accounts, Invoicing, time sheets, District account reconciliation, Munis Reports, Purchase Orders and communicates with Software Representatives on licensing and maintenance.
  • Supports 504 case managers with technical support
  • Collaborates with the Student Services Office to maintain MIAOP Medicaid staff pool list and calendar.
  • Prepares quarterly McKinney-Vento Expense Reports
  • Collaborates with staff on McKinney-Vento homeless eligibility and supports.
  • Maintains MiPSE Special Transportation and communicates with Dean Transportation ensuring start dates and summer learning transportation.
  • Approves Red Rover Special Education IEP and Special Education Business Absences, maintaining tracking of approvals
  • Assists District Nurses with Munis Reports and purchasing
  • Processes Temporary Teacher Approvals for Special Education Endorsement through Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS)
  • Processes Family Subsidy letters with Community Mental Health
  • Coordinates Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) trainings, tracking expiration dates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate’s Degree or equivalent with five years of experience in Special Education.
  • Possesses advanced understanding of Special Education Standards as it relates to State and Federal Laws
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with school personnel and parents while complying with confidentiality requirements in local, state, and federal policies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in office operations, procedures, and record-keeping methods.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and District software with accuracy and speed.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills with technology tools to create complex documents, spreadsheets from databases.
  • Demonstrated ability for data systems : MiPSE, PowerSchool, MSDS, Munis, Red Rover, DocHub
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with district staff, outside agencies and community.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, written communication and language skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, be self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work routines, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations who represent a wide range of age, ethnicity,
  • national origin, and ability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement efforts both organizationally and individually.

Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and / or up to 25 pounds of files, paper, or other related equipment or supplies.

Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching. Close vision is required to perform computer related tasks.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his / her employment in the District.
