Position Summary
- Contacting various insurance carriers to obtaining and verifying treatment plans ordered by clinician.
- Review patient insurances and documentation through EMR system
- Scheduling patients for their next appointment/procedure after verification of insurance
- Updating patient charts/records
- Updating audit reports
- Answering phones
- Scanning documents into patient charts
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
He/She must have excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to work on many projects at once. He/She must be very detail-oriented and organized, to maintain accurate patient insurance records. It’s important that she has the ability to focus and work quickly, as insurance paperwork commonly needs to be processed in a timely manner. He/She also must work well with others, as she’ll work as part of a health care team, striving to provide patients with the best care possible.
The Prior Authorization Specialist should also have experience in data entry, preferably within an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) system.
