Michigan Milk Producers Assoc is Hiring a Maintenance Manager Near Middlebury, IN

The Michigan Milk Producers Association is looking for an experienced Facility Maintenance Manager to join our team, in our Middlebury, IN facility. Working hands-on with the MCC facility maintenance team, you will be responsible for the safe maintenance, repair and replacement of plant equipment and reliability systems.

The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) – established in 1916 – is a dairy farmer-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative and dairy processor. As the 10th largest dairy cooperative in the U.S., MMPA serves dairy farmers throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana, employing approximately 625 people in four states. In addition to a cheese plant in Indiana called the Middlebury Cheese Company, and a dairy product plant in Ohio called Superior Dairy, MMPA operates two SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan. Products made at MMPA’s plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultra-filtered milk, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the maintenance and operation of the equipment, systems, and processes for the overall facility to meet compliance standards of all external regulatory agencies including PMO, OSHA, FDA, and all other applicable regulations.

• Manage the maintenance personnel within the plant across a 3-shift operation.

• Directly manage plant maintenance budget for spending control by area or piece of equipment and approve all POs created for plant maintenance.

• Evaluation and determination of department priorities in response to work allocation to promote stronger overall plant performance and increase the mechanical reliability of the operation while reducing unplanned downtime.

• Develop and implement training programs that build core competence within the maintenance department to promote accurate and timely evaluation and repair of mechanical and electrical systems. 

• Participate as a member of the plant leadership team in the development of plant strategies and cost-saving initiatives that streamline operations and deliver performance improvements and operational savings. 

• Troubleshoot and debug existing electrical control systems.

• Work closely with engineering to develop and implement control systems within the plan.

• Manage the maintenance reliability system related to automated production equipment. 

• Manage accurate records and documentation of all production equipment. 

• Monitor and investigate electrical and mechanical system performance and devise corrective measures. 

• Analyze system data and provide technical reports and recommendations. 

• Provide technical support and expertise to other departments. 

• Train personnel on the use and maintenance of electrical control systems.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Three years minimum of experience in an industrial maintenance leadership 

• Knowledge and conformity with IOSHA to ensure safety standards and regulations.

• Proficiency in (RCM) Reliability-Centered Maintenance programs and procedures to deliver cost-effective and sustainable outcomes.

• Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies (PDCA, DMAIC, Kaizen, etc.).

• Experience with (PM) and (PdM) based on real-time conditions.

• Expertise in industrial automation systems, including Process Controllers and VFDs, preferably Allen-Bradley.

• Experience, and technical knowledge of high-pressure steam and boiler 

• Advanced knowledge of centrifugal and reciprocating fluid pumps.

• Ability to provide leadership and guidance in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical issues as they arise.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and troubleshoot issues.

• Ability to work independently and in team environments.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Project

• Willingness to be on call as the plant needs dictate.
