Michigan CAT is Hiring a Regional HR Mgr - Labor & Employee Relations Near Novi, MI

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for the effective management and guidance of employee/labor relations issues and associated processes within the Michigan employee population of the MFC. This key leadership role will also play a critical role in helping staff and leadership drive employee engagement action plans, relationships with union representative and MFC employees within the bargaining unit and employee relations issues management for non-union staff. This role is responsible for the leadership of HR Business Leader(s) to promote and implement department initiatives, provide effective grass-roots communications, and serve as a strategic partner for local leadership. This position will also play a central role in all labor negotiations.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provides strategical guidance to management primarily on labor relations including: harassment, discrimination, wage & hour concerns, leaves of absence, workers compensation, injuries, onboarding, terminations, attendance, investigations and disciplinary actions)
  • Manages and/or guides the resolutions of employee and labor relations issues for the company
  • Consults on employee disciplinary action processes (performance improvement plans, performance discussions, and review/support of potential termination proceedings)
  • Liaison for developing and implementing corporate programs and processes
  • Helps drive (in close conjunction with CHRO) all labor contract negotiations and relationships
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of HR legal requirements, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed
  • Facilitates HR projects and initiatives as required while understanding and communicating local impacts and potential issues
  • MFC strategic partner for local leadership

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the execution and interpretation of policies and for the successful operation of assigned units. Has authority for hiring and disciplining employees. Responsible for performance management of staff and fostering a high performing team.

Position Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field (Human Resources, Business Management, Finance, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of experience as part of a labor relations negotiation team
  • 7-10 years or more of experience in Human Resources
  • 5-7 years or more of Human Resource leadership experience

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in business related field (Business Management, Finance, Marketing, etc.)
  • 10-12 years or more of experience in Human Resources
  • 3 years or more leading labor negotiations on behalf of the company
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential
