Position: Behavioral Specialist (Elementary and Secondary)

Overview:
  • We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students within the school setting who exhibit behavior/social/emotional (SEB) challenges. The Behavior Specialist will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement strategies to support positive behavior and improve overall student success.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certifications or licensure in behavior analysis (e.g., BCBA, BCaBA, RBT), or social/emotional learning (SEL) or behavior interventions preferred.
  • Experience working with students with diverse behavioral needs (in a school setting preferred).
  • Strong understanding of behavioral principles and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with behavioral challenges.
  • B.A. with Preferred Endorsement LD
  • Current Michigan Certification or the ability to obtain
  • Completed the MTTC test as pertains to endorsement
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors.
  • Develop, train, implement, and progress monitor behavior intervention plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Provide training and support to teachers and staff on behavior management strategies and techniques, social/emotional learning, and other behavior supports.
  • Building lead for implementation and support of effective restorative practices
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to establish consistent behavioral expectations and reinforcement strategies at home and school.
  • Provide wrap around support for strong connections between home, outside agencies and schools with follow-up with key school personnel.
  • Monitor student progress and make adjustments to support plans, or steps, as needed.
  • Team with administration, and other building leaders, to intensity SEB supports and structures.
  • Work with school-based teams to support students in crisis situations and develop crisis intervention plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of behavior data and intervention plans.

Salary: Per the Master Contract
