Job Description Summary

The Operations Support Specialist/Care Resource Coordinator is responsible to procuring support for clients of the Miami County Health Department and persons who reside in Miami County Kansas. The objective of the Operations Support Specialist is to perform a needs assessment and connect at-risk clients and residents to community resources. Works under varied levels of supervision.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties

  • Answer incoming calls to the health department.
  • Schedule/re-schedule appointments.
  • Keep accurate daily log of time spent on current programs.
  • Correspondence with community partners regarding various programs, outreach and/or resources.
  • Cross-train to all other areas of the health department.
  • Assists with COVID-19 clinics when applicable.
  • Cross train to all areas of the health department.

Other Duties:

  • Periodically assist the health department director with grant applications and budgetary requirements.
  • Case management and care resource coordination for patients.
  • Attend required meetings and prepare quarterly reports with regard to grants awarded.
  • Participate in required in-service meetings, webinars, and training.
  • Fulfill requests for various community outreach services.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Health.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of one to three years health care experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Knowledge:

  • Computer software programs and applications such as MS Office.
  • County and/or city government administration.

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, management, and general public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate goals, interests, and positions during discussions.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and/or the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for the organization at any given point in time.
  • Ability to operate computer programs/software/platforms used by the county to perform job duties.
  • Ability to use basic office equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assist and complete in the full range of nursing care to patients/residents with physical and/or behavioral problems in a clinic setting.
  • Ability to communicate orally with patients/residents, families, interdisciplinary team and other personnel.
  • Ability to recognize and react to emergent patient/resident care situations and intervene as appropriate.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and/or the general public.

Work is frequently performed indoors in an office setting, well lit, heated and/or air conditioned with adequate ventilation. Visual ability to perceive detailed cues of body language, speech, and reactions of individuals in the assessment of situations that may escalate. Stressful situations may occur when dealing with clients. Occasional local travel may be required which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Occasional lifting/moving a maximum weight of 20 pounds.
