Installer Technician (Summer 2024)

Part-time/Non-Exempt: 25-30 hr/week

Duration: June - August 2024

Budget: $20 an hour. 

Location: San Antonio, Texas location (In-Person)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Layer 3 Communications, an MGT Company is a leading professional services organization specializing in the design, implementation, security and maintenance of wired and wireless converged network solutions. We are currently looking to fill a part time Installation Specialist position in our San Antonio and Austin Texas locations. This position will join our deployment teams to deploy technology solutions for our customers. We have many ongoing projects in the Central/South Texas area and the work would be a mix of office time preparing hardware for installation and on-site in either geography installing.

We have two types of equipment that this position would be focused on. One is a wireless networking product that mounts to drop ceilings or a wall mount. They weigh typically less than three (3) pounds. These installations often are in finished offices, classrooms, gyms, common areas etc. with a small number of outdoor units. We also install rack mounted equipment in industry standard nineteen (19) inch racks. Those components typically are twenty (20) pounds but can weigh more but would be a two or more-person process. We will provide training on installation procedures as needed.

In this role, you will:

• Follow instructions from team leader.
• Interact with and support your peers.
• Read and follow written/electronic documentation pertaining to each installation.
• Use basic hand tools (screw drivers and pliers) and occasionally an electric drill.
• Be able to climb an 8–10-foot ladder and reach a standard suspended ceiling to mount electronics.
• Be capable of walking a large facility moving room to room mounting hardware.
• Comfortability with 25% travel required.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• High School Diploma or GED highly preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
• Computer or networking experience
• Experience installing other types of equipment.
• A good attitude
• Must submit to and pass our customer’s background checks.
• Must have reliable transportation to commute for jobs in San Antonio areas.
• Must be a self-starter.
