At Brigham and Women's Hospital, our Room Service Team plays a critical role in providing top-quality food and exceptional service to our patients, guests, and staff. We are looking for dedicated Guest Room Attendants to join our team, delivering not just meals but a caring and positive experience to those we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation: Participate in restaurant-style cold/hot production, preparing the highest quality food products while adhering to departmental standards.
Timely Delivery: Ensure complete and accurate tray and food deliveries within 45 minutes of order placement and tray collection within 1 hour, in compliance with departmental policies.
Customer Service: Act upon meal service requests, resolving issues or alerting supervisors as needed. Verify patient menu selections and make immediate corrections when required.
Nourishment: Deliver nourishments to patient bedside and floor nourishment areas, maintaining inventory and ensuring compliance with state-local-JCAHO regulations.
Financial Transactions: Bill and collect guest or staff orders in various forms, but we do not accept gratuities for assigned work duties.
Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to hospital and departmental hand hygiene, cleanliness, and safety policies, including the HACCP program.
Equipment Operation: Operate meal service equipment such as coffeemakers, toasters, microwaves, mixers, and blenders.
Training: Assist in training new Room Service Team members and Dietetic Interns.
Record-Keeping: Monitor, collect, and record operation-specific data for administrative purposes.
Flexibility: Perform the duties of other team members when necessary and as skill-appropriate.
Compliance: Adhere to departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and food service regulations at all times.
Qualifications:
-Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking); bilingual abilities are preferred.
-High school education or equivalent experience is preferred.
-1-2 years of work experience, preferably in food service or customer service.
-Basic supervisory course is strongly recommended.
-Knowledge of therapeutic diet orders and federal, state, and city health codes.
-Computer skills and basic mathematical knowledge, including the ability to work with money and cash registers.
