Meyer Capel, A Professional Corporation, is a diversified mid-sized (35 attorney) Central Illinois law firm seeking candidates for an associate litigation position at our Champaign, Illinois office. This position is for candidates seeking to practice in a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including but not limited to conflicts arising from construction contracts and projects, contract disputes, and landlord/tenant issues. The ideal candidate will have at minimum two (2) years of relevant litigation experience.

Scope of Work

The potential scope of work may include, among other tasks, (1) independently oversee the day-to-day handling of litigation files; (2) engage in all phases of litigation including taking and defending depositions, drafting summary judgement, and trial preparation; (3) draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and settlements; (4) collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to case management; (5) advise clients on the their legal rights and obligations, and suggest the best course of action in their particular situation; and (6) provide legal representation for clients in court proceedings related to civil matters.
