Metuchen-Edison YMCA is Hiring a Pool Manager Near Edison, NJ

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Branch Director of Operations, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the safety of all members during the hours of the pool operation. The Pool Manager will also be responsible for the operation of the pool and ensure the pool is operating within the set guidelines and regulations.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Actively guide and participate in the preparation and opening of the summer pool environment.

  1. Give leadership and supervision of the lifeguard staff, gate staff, maintenance staff, and grounds crew. Including scheduling of pool staff.
  2. Ensure facility is equipped appropriately to meet all bathing code and best practice standards. Including but not limited to safety equipment, first aid supplies, lifeguard gear.
  1. Create and maintain site specific YMCA Aquatic Safety policies, practices and guidelines (Aquatic Safety Plan). Including pool staff certifications are current and accessible for review with in the Aquatic Safety Plan.
  1. Ensure all drills and in-services required per the Association Aquatic Safety Plan are scheduled and delivered with attendance and results being recorded.
  2. Train all staff to be deliver rules and enforce facility regulations with professionalism and work closely as a team to ensure the safe operations of aquatic area are meeting the best practice standards.
  3. Work with lifeguards as a team player, give direction and display leadership qualities, ensure all guards are actively scanning and patrolling their assigned zones of coverage. Provide breaks for guards as needed and scheduled to ensure the pool is always in guarding ratio.
  1. Knowledge of aquatic and facility operations with regards to pool maintenance, chemical balance, general facility operations. (Locker room and grounds maintenance)
  2. Ensure security of pool when leaving the pool area – no pool is ever left unguarded for any reason, at any time.
  3. Hold and maintain Lifeguard certification and be able to react in all scenarios with appropriate skills following industry standards. 
  4. Complete all incidents reports at time of incident, including all pertinent information. Reports must be legible and state the facts as witnessed by the guard. Inclusive of all incidents, medical of lifeguard saves.
  5. Must keep all certifications current and have the ability to provide documentation of certifications at all times when requested.
  6. Assist with the planning and scheduling of outside agencies for pool use (IE: camps, child care, rentals)
  7. Wear proper YMCA professional appearance policy attire as well as have all proper safety equipment (whistle, tube, fanny pack, etc) on persons at all time.
  1. Monitor and assist in cleanliness of pool and pool deck.
  2. Prepare necessary reports when needed.
  3. Attend mandatory meeting as required.
  4. Keep the Camp Director and/or Director of Operations apprised of activities, situations or problems in the pool area.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current lifeguarding, First-Aid, CRP/AED and Oxygen certification.
  • Current CPO preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age with 2 years of active guarding experience.
  • Mature and responsible who can react without hesitation in a professional manner and assume the point role in the event of emergency.
  • Ability to enforce all pool rules fairly, effectively in a positive manner.
  • Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in pool/pool area
  • Supervisory experience

PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Sufficient strength, skill and technique to control and rescue struggling adult swimmers, lifting, standing, reaching, kneeling, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, concentration, attention and focus to one area for extended periods of time, warm to hot weather outdoor work, average to warm in-door and out-door pool heat and humidity, ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
