Staff Analyst I (TA): $63,310 - $74,950 (New Hire rate: $55,049)

Staff Analyst II (TA): $73,510 - $81,871 (New Hire rate: $63,923)
Associate Staff Analyst (TA): $83,098- $107,591 (New Hire rate: $72,258)
Staff Analyst I (OA): $65,003 - $76,955
Staff Analyst II (OA): $75,475 - $84,060

Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the analyst will perform difficult professional work and perform a broad range of analytical, administrative and research support tasks for the Division of Revenue Control. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Processing applications from multiple channels for the Reduced-Fare Program for seniors and people with disabilities,
  • Processing replacement card requests, setting up customer files within the program’s database,
  • Printing/mailing Reduced-Fare MetroCards/OMNY cards and track and analyze MetroCard data and usage.
  • Providing in person assistance to our Reduced-Fare customers in the Customer Service Center at 3 Stone Street including assisting customers with the completion of applications, enrolling in OMNY, providing information, and issuing printed media.
  • Assisting with transitioning Reduced-Fare and Paratransit customers to an open or closed loop OMNY product during the decommissioning of MetroCard.

Education and Experience:

Associate Staff Analyst

  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management, or in a related area; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in "1" above.

Staff Analyst I-II

  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, or urban studies, or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of satisfactory fulltime professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area; or
  • An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or
  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", "3", or "4" above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma.

Special Note:

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Reduced Fare, Customer Claims or Fare Media Programs.
  • Knowledgeable in fare pricing, smartcard technology and OMNY.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, basic mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Crystal.
  • Proficient in PeopleSoft.
  • Excellent telephone communication and sensitivity skills
  • Ability to work in high volume environment.
