Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): Assists low-achieving students enrolled in schools receiving Federal Title I funds to improve academic achievement. Meets with students on a regular basis, assesses needs of children in the program, and develops instruction to meet each child's need.

Reports to: School Principal

Department Name: Instructional Support
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities : List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Regular and reliable attendance is an expectation of the job.

Job Duty/Resp. 1:

Assists low-achieving students in high-poverty schools receiving Federal Title I funds.
Job Duty/Resp. 2:

Regularly meets with students to review class material, discuss text, predict test questions, formulate ideas for papers, and develop on solutions to problems to assist low-achieving students improve academic achievement.
Job Duty/Resp. 3:

Collaborates with school staff and faculty to assess the needs of children and to determine how best to address those needs.
Job Duty/Resp. 4:

Develops lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students.
Job Duty/Resp. 5:

Reads aloud to students and assists students with reading; facilitates activities to improve fluency and comprehension.
Job Duty/Resp. 6:

Participates in educational team meetings, including development and review of progress.

Education and Experience Requirements
Education (training/degree): Required minimum: Requires bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

Level 5: Reads professional publications; composes complex reports and manuals; speaks formally to small groups within and outside the organization.
Complexity of Work:

Level 3: Performs semi-routine work involving set procedures and rules, but with frequent problems; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure.
Impact of Decisions:

Level 2: Makes decisions with minor impact - affects only those in immediate work area.

Level 1: Handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving little or no latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items.

Level 2: Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.
