Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): MNPS school psychologists are members of school teams that promote prevention and early intervention through multi-tiered systems of support. Their unique training makes them qualified to support schools in systems change, data based decision making and effective practices in the areas of academics, social-emotional learning and behavior. They have a strong skill set in collaboration with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities : List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Regular and reliable attendance is an expectation of the job.

Job Duty/Resp. 1:

Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for the purpose of interpreting the data, supporting equitable access to core instruction, aligning increasingly intensive interventions to a student's individual need(s) and determining eligibility for exceptional educational services using the state of TN criteria.
Job Duty/Resp. 2:

Coordinate, facilitate and support school staff with the implementation of MTSS ensuring effective practices to assist students who experience academic, social and emotional difficulties.
Job Duty/Resp. 3:

Collaborate with other specialists (e.g., literacy specialists, behavioral analysts, occupational and physical therapists, counselors, speech-language pathologist, etc.) for the purpose of creating and delivering effective, evidence based supports to students.
Job Duty/Resp. 4:

Administer assessments for the purpose of measuring the cognitive, academic, adaptive, social and emotional development of students and/or determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Job Duty/Resp. 5:

Collaborate with other staff with aligning academic, social-emotional and behavioral interventions as well as supporting teams with continuous monitoring systems.
Job Duty/Resp. 6:

Compiles information from a variety of sources (i.e., administrators, teachers, nurses, parents, teachers, SLP) for the purpose of producing a comprehensive evaluation or screening report in compliance with established guidelines.
Job Duty/Resp. 7:

Collaborate and support families so they better understand their children's learning and mental health needs.
Job Duty/Resp. 8:

Consult and collaborate with principals, teachers, and support personnel relative to specific educational and adjustment concerns, analysis and interventions.
Job Duty/Resp. 9:

Partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.

Provide culturally responsive services to students and families from diverse backgrounds.

Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Promote and support school-wide practices that ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying and harassment.
Job Duty/Resp. 13:

Consult and support school teams for the purpose of creating smooth transitions to and from school and community learning environments, such as residential treatment centers or Alternative Learning Centers (ALCs).

Assist with crisis prevention and intervention services.
