Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): MSAP Curriculum Specialist will be housed at a magnet school* to create, coach and implement STEAM curriculum. In addition, this person is responsible for coaching, modeling, and providing professional development opportunities for teachers. This position is grant funded from 2017-2022. *Glencliff, Inglewood, Rosebank Warner, and Whitsitt.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities : List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
Job Duty/Resp. 1:

Develop, coordinate, and implement a thematic curriculum that integrates the comprehensive school reform model and the magnet theme(s) into the curriculum scope and sequence.

Job Duty/Resp. 2:

Design and facilitate professional development experiences with project staff and partner providers.

Job Duty/Resp. 3:

Extensive knowledge of curriculum; as well as, possess technical knowledge and skills to operate computer, enter data, analyze and process information, that show evidence of effective decision-making skills and management skills; and evidence of enthusiasm, job tolerance, initiative and strong work standards for self and others.

Job Duty/Resp. 4:

Coordinate and/or provide staff development and training, including classroom demonstrations, for the implementation of the magnet theme(s) and comprehensive school reform model.

Job Duty/Resp. 5:

Commit to a core set of beliefs about teaching and learning, ongoing professional development, and active team membership.

Job Duty/Resp. 6:

Participate in personal professional growth that leads toward the acquisition of new skills and knowledge related to magnet theme and comprehensive school reform model.

Job Duty/Resp. 7:

Attend required meetings, field experiences, workshops, and conferences.

Job Duty/Resp. 8:

Work with the Director of Magnet Schools, Executive Director of School Choice, and other district staff to implement the MSAP program. In addition to, work with district level curriculum specialists to ensure the integration and coordination of the magnet theme(s) and the comprehensive school reform model with the District's program.

Education and Experience Requirements
Education (training/degree): Required minimum: Bachelor degree from an accredited educational institution plus five years experience. Preferred: Master's degree with five years experience.
Experience Requirements: Three years minimum teaching experience with effective evaluations. Preferred: Experience or knowledge of STEAM curriculum, adult learning theory, professional development best practices, grants, and curriculum development.

Level 5: Performs coordinating work involving guidelines and rules with constant problem solving; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results or frequent exposure to unusual pressure.

Level 4: Makes decisions with moderately serious impact - affects work unit and may affect other units or citizens.
Equipment Usage (if applicable):

Level 4: Handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as hand tools, power tools, trucks, climbing apparatus, chippers, and aerial booms.

Level 1: Requires no responsibility for the safety and health of others.
