Job Summary (2-3 sentences describing job purpose): The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform accounting functions, monitor related documentation, and provide support to the Business Manager and accounts payable personnel. The position is responsible for analyzing accounts, preparing, and approving related information, managing the general ledger, grants management, auditing, and maintaining financial records and reports, and reconciling various accounts. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities : List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential duties/tasks performed by the position. This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
Job Duty/Resp. 1:

Assists in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements, including summer feeding program and charter school financial reporting. Compiles, analyzes, and interprets accounting and financial data; researches and resolves discrepancies.

Job Duty/Resp. 2:

Manages the general ledger and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepares journal entries across all school locations for the business office to post to general ledger. Prepare revenue recognition analysis for selected accounts/grants and monthly entries for claim revenues.

Job Duty/Resp. 3:

Verifies, monitors, and reconciles accounts from internal department software to metro government general ledger (Oracle R-12). Maintain account balances and bank statements; and Manages timely monthly account reconciliations for selected accounts/grants and ensuring accounts/grants are fully reconciled at month and quarter end.

Job Duty/Resp. 4:

Maintain records of all payments, receivables and prepare monthly records/claim reports for all grant related activities.

Job Duty/Resp. 5:

Prepare USDA commodity allocations and reviews school supply orders for approval.

Job Duty/Resp. 6:

Prepares and issues monthly invoices for catering and other services billed to schools. Places weekly grocery orders for schools and performs weekly inventory reconciliation.

Job Duty/Resp. 7:

Assists in preparing Department of Human Services and other miscellaneous grant applications and claim payments.
Job Duty/Resp. 8:

Interacts with staff, different departments, and/or external agencies to ensure accuracy of accounts, respond to inquiries, and provide accounting support.

Job Duty/Resp 9:

Acts as team lead and back-up for the Nutrition Services Tech Accounting II, as well as, assisting with training new staff members.

Job Duty/Resp. 10:

Performs related tasks as necessary such as developing new accounting policies, procedures and providing information to department leadership for budget preparation. Special projects or other ad hoc requests as directed by the Business Support Manager, Director or Asst. Director.

Education and Experience Requirements
Education (training/degree): Required minimum: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (directly related experience can be considered in lieu of degree). Knowledge of basic accounting principles and terminology (i.e. debit, credit, journal entry, general ledger).
Experience Requirements: Requires four (4) years of related experience in accounting, financial records, monthly financial report processing, and data record keeping supplanted by an excellent working proficiency in Microsoft Excel, pivot tables & v-lookup. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience and proficiency in multitasking and data organization.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations Required: N/A
Skills Required: Thorough understanding of accounting including knowledge of federal, state and local laws/regulations related to financial reporting and compliance. Working knowledge of an Oracle-based accounting system. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to provide a high level of customer service and establish and maintain effective interdepartmental communications and relationships. Ability to prioritize and self-direct. Adaptability. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Kronos Set Up Data:
Meal Deduction - Most Bransford office and district level employee have a meal deduction. They are scheduled 8.5 hours per day and get an hour lunch. Itinerants and retirees get a 30-minute lunch period and therefore do not have a meal deduction. All school based employees will not have a meal deduction. Auto Meal Deduction
Travel - Itinerant non-exempt employees who travel will be using the time clock differently than others and are paid for travel time between work locations. Employee does not or seldom travels
