REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school or equivalent
Completed Medical Assistant Program
RESPONSIBILITIES: Including, but not limited to the following:
- Respond to all medical patient telephone messages for assigned physicians/providers, following practice protocols and within the time frame allocated. Consult directly with the physician as directed in compliance with practice procedures
- Document and chart all patient medical information in compliance with practice standards
- Follow through on all patient requested lab results, etc
- Report all lab results received to physician
- Provide patient education as directed by physician
- Demonstrate appropriate priority receiving and managing all patient telephone messages, with accountability for all follow-up and information given to physician and patients
- Maintain orderly and efficient/timely flow of patients and to
- Obtain weight and height
- Take blood pressure (temperature when necessary)
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, etc.)
- Take medical history information
- Prepare patients for exam, having them in proper undress
- Administer tests and treatments as directed by physician
- Assist physician as needed
- Clean and maintain patient rooms between patient visits and at end of day
- Document information obtained and services provided during patient visit
- Document drugs prescribed or any other pertinent medical information
- Document all telephone calls and results and follow-up
- Maintain file and follow-up system on all lab results
- Maintain current and accurate logs and other documentation required by CLIA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies and comply with these regulations in performing duties
- Maintain current and accurate reference guides including contacts, phone #s and other information necessary to schedule tests and procedures and to obtain pre-certification/authorization
- Maintain examination rooms. Stock supplies on a daily basis
- Prepare trays or carts for procedures
- Schedule patients for outside and hospital procedures as directed by physician
- Maintain samples and other medical supplies in accordance with regulations and practice policy/procedure
- Perform other duties as assigned by Physician and/or Office Manager

- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care

- Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and public
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to communicate clearly
