Minimal Qualifications: | - Bachelor's degree.

Preferred qualifications: | Preference will be given to individuals who possess: - Master's degree: In Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
- Academic Advising: broad experience & understanding of all aspects of Academic Advising in a college-setting.
- Technology: Skill and experience with student information systems, web-based student services, CRMs, basic Office software, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Supervision: experience supervising others.
- Management: demonstrated evidence of organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects, budget management, business practices.
- Diversity Experience: Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Disability Support: working knowledge of requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with others, customer service skill, experience as a member of a team.
- Communication Skills: written and oral communication ability, including experience speaking to groups.

Work Hours | Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs. |
Compensation | The annual starting salary is $67,988 to $72,067. A competitive benefit package is included. |

Class Summary | This is the fifth level in the Student Services series. Incumbents provide direction and supervision of admissions, student services, student financials, student records, academic advising, and financial aid functions. Major duties and responsibilities include: supervising, training, and evaluating subordinate staff; providing ongoing professional development for assigned staff; developing and implementing plans and strategies on student recruitment and enrollment; developing, implementing, and evaluating student success initiatives; developing and monitoring an assigned budget; monitoring fiscal records and process; reviewing and analyzing statistical data for recruitment and retention programs; and ensuring compliance with regulatory and policy requirements. Typical Essential Duties | - Supervises academic advising personnel to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; scheduling staff calendars; planning, coordinating and/or conducting staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
- Oversees daily activities related to campus advising services; work may involve planning, implementing, and evaluating departmental operations; coordinating assignments and caseload activities; developing and revising service delivery processes; and ensuring that work is performed in compliance with current College, State, and Federal policies.
- Coordinates with faculty, staff, students, administration, and outside institutions and organizations to develop, implement, and improve the quality of advising programs, represent the College and department, and facilitate departmental operations; work may also involve serving on campus and district committees and attending meetings.
- Coordinates and provides advising services to students to include providing outreach to students; providing information regarding academic and financial aid policies and procedures, courses, programs, and degree requirements; evaluating academic progress; providing guidance on selecting courses and majors; facilitating students' educational, personal, and career goals; and ensuring that operations performed by staff are in accordance with standards and policies.
- Provides guidance to student financial aid applicants and recipients; work may involve providing information regarding tuition and other financial costs; reviewing student files and other documentation; evaluating and reviewing student eligibility, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and other information/metrics; and providing guidance to help students meet applicable requirements.
- Researches and assists with implementation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to assist with district Case Management Initiative (Appreciative/Intrusive Advising).
- Assists in the development and implementation of student communications.
- Creates systems to provide professional academic advising: services to students to assist them in the process of choosing a major, understanding curriculum and academic policies, making effective academic progress toward degree completion and integrating their academic decisions with their personal, educational and career goals.
- Provides supervision, leadership and support for Academic Advising and Disability Support Services staff.
- May supervise Bloch Scholars Coordinator and HSI retention Support personnel.
