MetroNet is Hiring a Sr Network Technician Near Little Rock, AR

Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to work in 365x24x7 environment including weekend and night shifts.
  • Constant monitoring of Network Management systems for alarms on the METRONET Network.
  • Analyze and determine impact of alarms to the Metronet Network and customer base.
  • Report, document, and track all alarm events while maintaining a high level of accuracy and urgency.
  • Create and triage trouble tickets, including remote RFC and BER testing.
  • Create, Assign and Coordinate trouble tickets to the correct internal workgroups for customer and network troubles.
  • Communicate Network Event Notification alerts and updates to internal Metronet teams and executives.
  • Coordinate and drive repair activities on fiber cuts and other network impacting events.
  • Direct involvement with engineering groups and vendors to find and implement restoration efforts.
  • Updates trouble tickets, escalating to various carriers and workgroups as required until completion.
  • Work escalations from other NOC Tiers and Metronet departments
  • Properly document Root Cause Actions and dispositions during ticket closure
  • Perform inbound and outbound contact center duties in a high-volume environment.
  • Communicates daily with many departments within METRONET, other telecommunication providers and vendors to discuss and coordinate all network troubles/outages and projects. This may involve exchanging information on the installation, testing and turn-up of circuits/facilities and network elements (fiber transport, switching networks, etc).
  • Coordinate network activities related to cutovers and upgrades to ensure that schedules are appropriately planned to avoid customer service outages.
  • Perform other duties assigned by NOC Management team.
  • All other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Vendor certifications preferred (CCNA/ JNCIA/MEF/ALU)
  • 4 years of experience pertaining to the telecommunications industry previous Service Provider experience is desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience with Ethernet/TCP/IP Networking. Must have detailed understanding of IEEE and ITU standards for FTTH & GPON technologies.
  • SNMP, UDP, IMAP, DNS, RADIUS (AAA), LDAP, NTP and SMTP
  • Ethernet and Mobile Backhaul Experience is a plus. Experience with PON/GPON based services is Desired.
  • Experience working with MPLS and designing layer 2 and layer 3 private networks, including programming and testing VPN.
  • Ability to completely design, build, program, deploy, and document new IP services from a network core to multiple customer sites.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the OSI model and how it pertains to various transmission protocols, and multi-protocol routing including VRF, VPN, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, VPLS, and VPRN.
  • Ability to Move, Add, Change and Delete circuits in PON, GPON, DWDM and other Layer 1 transport systems
  • Intermediate PON, GPON, Dark Fiber, CWDM/DWDM experience
  • OTN, ROADM cross connect provisioning and signal grooming
  • Experience with various protection and switching methodologies such as G.8032
  • BTI, CISCO, CIENA, Ekinops Transport experience is Desired.
  • Ability to perform software and hardware upgrades as necessary in all Transport systems throughout Metronet Footprint
