Very busy Ophthalmology office seeks full time Medical Records Assistant.
Our state of the art, private practice provides an extensive range of personalized eye care services to patients with emphasis on primary eye care, cataract and glaucoma surgery, lasik/refractive surgery, oculoplastics, and in office cosmetic procedures. Our doctors, along with our clinical team, are dedicated to optimizing our patient’s vision and ensuring they can see their best.
Essential duties include:
Examine and verify requests of ordering providers insurance payors, and patients
Review of medical records to ensure that they are accurate, clinically pertinent,
Complete and readily available for continuing patient care, and medical research. Process incoming request from patients and outside facilities for medical records.
Respond to emails/phone messages from providers and patients.
Communicate with managers, providers, patients and techs on varying records requests.
Determine the format of the medical record at patients request.
Dispaly level of understanding to troubleshoot complex issues and escalate them to the proper person for resolution.
Fax and mail reports. Maintain all records and be able to verify HIPPA information for all patients
Assist with other areas of, Order Request, Scheduling, Authorization, Billing and Pricing.
Knowledge/ skills:
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
Medical terminology and medical office experience
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to read, understand and comprehend the CPT and ICD.9, ICD.10 manuals
Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices
Strong customer service skills both internal and external.
Ability to multitask and work independently without direct supervision.
Ability to withstand long periods of sitting and repetitive handwork
Minimum qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience medical office/healthcare facility expereince
Ophthalmology/Optometry experience a huge plus.
Problem solver with strong multi-tasking abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be able to function as part of a team

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
