Good Times seeks a part time managing editor to join its Santa Cruz-based award-winning editorial team. Candidate should have a passion for producing groundbreaking journalism and enjoy working in a dynamic, creative environment.
Good Times encourages its journalists to dig beneath the surface and provide insights that go deeper than conventional reporting, and to share thoughtful coverage in a colorful, narrative style.
As managing editor you will be responsible for creating and assigning stories, managing workflows in concert with our design team and executive editor, and posting content to digital channels.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Requirements:
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science or English, or comparable experience
A minimum of three years related experience
Working familiarity with Wordpress and Google Workspace applications
Knowledge of SEO and social media best practices
Adherence to journalism best practices and ethics
Great attention to detail, ability to give constructive feedback and the ability to create great stories
