As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Columbia, South Carolina, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare industry by providing safe and comfortable transportation to patients who do not require immediate medical attention. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the well-being of patients during transit and providing basic medical care as necessary.

You will be tasked with transporting patients to and from medical facilities, clinics, and other designated locations, making you a vital part of the healthcare team.

EMT Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, dialysis centers, rehabilitation facilities, and other destinations.
• Assist patients with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
• Provide basic medical care during transport, such as monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and attending to personal needs.
• Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and medical staff to coordinate transportation logistics and ensure proper care.
• Maintain accurate records of patient information, including medical history, medications, and transport details.
• Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of the vehicle, including stocking necessary medical supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and protocols governing non-emergent medical transportation services.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or special requirements.
• Collaborate with dispatchers, other EMTs, and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and transportation schedules.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid South Carolina state certification as an EMT-Basic or EMT-Advanced.
• Valid BLS certification.
• Valid Driver’s License, with no at fault accidents in the last 5 years (required)
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in non-emergent situations.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift and maneuver patients safely.
• Clean criminal background check and drug screening.
• Able to perform a DOT physical.

Working Conditions:

• Flexible set schedules available, one month in advance.
• Work hours may vary and could include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical demands include lifting, bending, and assisting patients with mobility.
