Metro Metals Tacoma LLC is Hiring a Crane/Excavator Operator Near Tacoma, WA

Metro Metals NW, a leader in the scrap metal industry is currently looking for an experienced crane/excavator operator that is efficient in operating material handling equipment such as Sennebogen, Liebherr, and Fuchs (magnet or grapple). Loading heavy haul scrap trucks using a grapple or magnet. Includes operating mobile bale logger equipment.

A professional individual who is attentive to details, being to work on time, a team player, willing to work hard and come to work each day with a positive attitude. Adhere with all company safety and environmental standards and procedures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experienced Sennebogen, Komatsu, Liebherr, Fuchs material handler operator (magnet or grapple)
  • Follow verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math.
  • Transload – scrap metal and other products, to\from railcars, and trucks utilizing safe operating procedures.
  • Operate in a manner where SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT are of the highest importance.
  • Perform equipment inspections as required.
  • Prepare equipment for product transfer.
  • Start, stop, and operate scrap handling and various other pieces of equipment within defined operating parameters.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles.
  • Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely.
  • Responsible for observing and following all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the work area.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Desirable candidate should have 2 years’ experience (preferred)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using oral communication skills.
  • Physical requirements include ability to work majority of hours in a piece of equipment but not limited to that machine or operation, intermittent bending, crouching, climbing, and hand and finger dexterity required.
  • Must be accustomed to working in an outside environment with the ability to work under extreme conditions
  • Must be able to execute job duties independently without being supervised
  • Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours as needed
  • Must demonstrate troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Be able to lift 65 pounds.
  • Must show up on time and ready/willing to work
  • Must be able to Pass Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Screen
