Overview

Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for executing the customer service, transportation, and contract administration elements of the Rolled Products business unit. This role functions in a fast pace, demanding environment to ensure business unit objectives and customer requirements are met or exceeded. Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail are essential to be successful in this position.

The Logistics Coordinator reports directly to the Business Unit Manager – Common Alloy Rolled Products.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate, consistent, and timely communication with stakeholders including customers, suppliers, warehouses, and carriers to ensure accurate processing of shipments.
  • Apply customer service skills to create and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Monitor shipments to confirm pickups and deliveries are moving as scheduled. Record and consistently provide status updates to the Sales Team.
  • Dispatch metal shipments to carriers (trucking, rail) by following customers’ service requirements. Resolve issues (shipment delays, rejections, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with carriers and track carrier performance. Request lane rates from carriers and negotiate best rate possible to move loads.

  • Work with Accounting to promptly process invoices and check with Credit ensure shipment volumes do not exceed credit limits. Resolve freight invoice discrepancies as they arise.

  • Create and send documentation pertinent for movement of cargo and to meet customer needs. Process shipment details in the ERP system for contract execution and keep shared files up to date.

  • Accrue shipment costs and settle contract shipments with an understanding of financial and physical risk. Update and manage inventory levels across various locations.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent transportation and customer service experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
