Industrial Buyer

Job Title: Industrial Buyer (Aluminum Scrap) Reports To: Moulton Business Unit ManagerFunctional Area: Trading Location: Remote/Moulton, Alabama

Candidates should reside in Alabama, Mississippi or Tennessee to be considered for this Regional opportunity.

Job Summary:  Are you a seasoned Industrial Buyer in the scrap metal industry looking to build a business with Industrial/Commercial accounts? Do you have experience developing and executing effective buying strategies to benefit our partners and internal business? We have an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Buyer who will be responsible for both the strategic development and tactical boots on the ground execution of Industrial Buying strategy and supplier/customer development.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Building Relationships

  • Help to establish and grow the internal Industrial Buying function
  • Identify, pursue, and sign-on new industrial accounts.
  • Visit current and prospective suppliers at their facilities. Perform inspection of materials to ensure quality.
  • Maintain and develop a network of reliable industry contacts to stay up to date on information pertaining to buying/selling prices and trends in local and regional markets.
  • Industrial Buyer will need to maintain a list of industrial and commercial accounts of companies/facilities that produce scrap metal.
  • Provide excellent customer service by efficiently resolving quality issues and/or other discrepancies that arise with customers.
  • Attend industry events to keep up with current market trends and maintaining and developing those relationships

Buying and Managing Pipeline

  • Purchase scrap to meet volume targets while optimizing profit margins
  • Set pricing for individual accounts and update as required due to changing market conditions
  • Utilize knowledge of yard operations and processing to make cost effective pricing decisions
  • Keep informed of competitive efforts directed at our accounts. Develop strategies and action to prevent account loss
  • Coordinate with administrative staff and trading team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchasing transactions
  • Coordinate shipments with suppliers and assist internal logistics department with delivery and pick up of material, equipment and roll-off containers when appropriate

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • A High School, 2-Year or 4-Year college Degree 

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional, full-time experience within a scrap metal company

Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good business sense and judgment
  • Self-starter, with a strong drive and sense of intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to thrive as a motivated self-starter in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information clearly and concisely
  • Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize appropriately
  • Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, influence others, and effect change
  • Possess the highest level of integrity; serving as a trusted advisor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorships are not available
