Meta is Hiring a Net Zero Data Specialist Near New York, NY

Meta’s Net Zero team drives Net Zero strategy, programs and engagement across the company and with our partners. We seek an experienced Data Specialist to join the team to ensure that we have the data infrastructure to accurately measure our emissions and our progress towards being Net Zero by 2030. The Net Zero Data Specialist will help define and build out our value chain emissions data and tools towards our Net Zero goal, support our value chain emissions reduction tracking and analysis, maintain emissions forecasts, and deliver business insights on an ongoing basis to the Net Zero team and internal partner teams. The ideal candidate has strong GHG footprint knowledge, environmental analytical skills, is passionate about leveraging data and tools to drive business strategy, and is effective in communicating insights and recommendations.

Net Zero Data Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Support the annual corporate environmental data inventory, including greenhouse gas emissions, calculation, compilation, verification, and publication
  • Enable effective data management and strategic decision making by building databases, dashboards, and tools
  • providing easily understood visuals and reports on a diverse set of topics
  • and enabling automation and scaling
  • Evaluate and ensure data integrity and identify reporting issues
  • recommend solutions and remove roadblocks
  • Gather and analyze Meta’s value chain emissions data
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, including financial and ROI modeling, to support multiple Net Zero strategies
  • Collect and analyze third-party environmental data
  • Support the development of emissions forecasting and decision-making tools
  • Track progress against targets and benchmark performance against internal KPIs and stakeholder expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA or BS degree with data analysis and visualization emphasis such as in computer science, social sciences, physical sciences, math, engineering, statistics, and/or sustainability focused degree
  • 5 years of experience working with greenhouse gas emissions data in the corporate context
  • Effective understanding of current practices and trends in greenhouse gas emissions and broader sustainability reporting
  • Experience developing or working with life cycle assessments (LCA)
  • Familiarity with external reporting standards such as CDP, ISSB, GRI, TCFD, SASB, etc.
  • Experience using data access tools and building visualizations using large datasets and multiple data sources, particularly with Tableau and Excel
  • Effective data management, critical analysis skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience presenting data and analytics insights to technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in related field strongly preferred
  • Experience with scripting/templating language (ex. Python, JavaScript) and SQL and working with unstructured data
