Simply stated, we value Humanity, Balance, Honesty, Inclusion and Teamwork JOB SUMMARY: Children and youth do best when they are with their own families whenever safely possible. When families are in different stages of crisis the Prevention Team intervenes with genuine and authentic engagement. This engagement leads to connection to their own community for services, utilization of natural and professional supports, and the empowerment of families to create safety and protective abilities within their own family system. The Supervisor provides direct supervision of Social Caseworkers and Case Managers of the Prevention Team. Assigns and manages workload assignments; reviews cases and reports for compliance with standards and court orders; prepares performance evaluations; trains, supervises, coaches staff and initiates corrective actions when needed; collaboration, cooperation, and coordination with other teams and agencies on cases, placement, and services; problem solving; utilizes automated systems; collets data; prepares written reports. Works well within a team, encourages values of the agency and a positive environment. Uses data to make decisions and is fiscally aware and responsible. Participates with administration and peers on issues impacting the Division as a whole. Represents the agency as assigned on community and/or state partnerships committees, boards and workgroups.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. Assist with the development and implementation of comprehensive planning and community development programs and services to respond to families in need with intent to prevent abuse and neglect.Assist with developing, managing and evaluating complexly integrated community based and system-based initiatives, programs and strategies to increase the community level response to the needs of families with the goal of decreasing the need for protective services.Maintains and prepares data that determines worker, team and program outcomes that are reported out regularly and guide supervisory direction. Outcomes include, but not limited to 1) Reduction of child abuse and neglect referrals and assessments over time2) Strengthened family functioning to prevent further system penetration3) Increased community engagement in family safety and well being4) Reducing Out of Home Placement for children and youth, including the reduction of the use of Congregate Care and reducing post adoption disruption5) Reduce recidivism of families served through intensive in home case management Adheres to the laws and expectations of the Colorado Children’s Code, Volume VII and Local Practice Models, following agency/division mission, vision, goals and values as guides. Supervise line staff to ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the divisions, planning, and problem solving. Holds workers accountable to outcomes determined by the division. Performs the following personnel actions: conducts performance evaluations, initiates and follows through with corrective plans when needed, makes hiring recommendations, and recommends salary adjustments. Develops budget recommendations for the team’s expenditure and assists in preparing budget. Makes recommendations for team needs in order to do the job in the field efficiently and effectively. Reports to the Manager of record directly and is able to support and aid the Division in a common direction with common goals. Promote and participate in team building and be an active and positive member of the Child Welfare Leadership Team. Promote and support a positive and respectful work environment among individuals and the team. Hold the team accountable for high performance standards among individuals, as well as programs. Acts as liaison with the community working successfully with others to achieve common division goals and outcomes for children. Performs administrative duties. Oral and written communications must be clear and effective. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
