Merrimack School District is Hiring a Special Education Teacher - PASS Program (2024 - 2025 School Year) Near Merrimack, NH

The PASS program at Merrimack High School is designed to provide team support to students with identified social/emotional challenges that can present barriers to their access to the regular education classroom as the least restrictive educational environment at the high school. Students in this program receive one period a day of specialized instruction to develop individualized coping strategies for high school and to learn to regulate their emotional responses to challenges and stressful events. Students may also access PASS in times of crisis.The teacher must:work collaboratively with other PASS team memberswork closely with administration, the counseling office, and outside service agencieswork actively to engage students in the educational learning process and towards their academic goals.teach alternative coping strategies to students who self-sabotage to avoid or escape challenging situationsContinually engage parents so that there is a consistency of approach between home and school environments.Work on problem-solving skills with students to develop their resilienceMonitor student progress academically and facilitate positive relationships between students and their regular education teachers.Qualifications:Current NH certification in Special EducationA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityAbility to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and classroom teachersTeam-centered work style A range of knowledge in high school content area subjectsHours per day: 7.5Days per week: 5Days per year: 187Competitive benefits package, including, but not limited to: Medical/Dental Insurance Retirement Leave BenefitsLife InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountsProfessional Development OpportunitiesEmployee Assistance ProgramSalary based on MTA contractPlease apply directly on our district website: www.sau26.orgDO NOT apply on School Spring
