Merrillville Community School Corporation is Hiring a Special Education Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Near Merrillville, IN

Schedule: 7 hours, 8:15am-3:15pm

School year position

Classification: Category III, Class B

$18.00-$21.00/hour

Reports to: Executive Director of Special Education


JOB SUMMARY:

The Registered Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students. The RBT will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to implement behavior support plans for students that require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. The Registered Behavior Technician will meet all of the requirements of RBT certification.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior
  • Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. (BIP)
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans to affect behavior changes
  • Regularly review, and remain well-versed in a multitude of BIPs in order to implement the plans and monitor plans for multiple students, at the same time
  • Model implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans for paraprofessionals and staff
  • Implement data collection systems including data collection, data graphing, and communicating to supervising BCBA staff.
  • Assist the teacher in strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
  • Attend case conferences as needed
  • Maintain consistency of Behavioral Intervention Plans by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff
  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned


Qualifications & Requirements

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Registered Behavior Technician certification, as evidenced by completion of the RBT training course and examination
  • Successful participation in and completion of the district provided crisis prevention training.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
