Merit Bank is Hiring a Bank Teller Near Ider, AL

Job Summary:

The Bank Teller will serve customers by completing account transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and other financial interactions while providing excellent customer service.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Reports to:

  • Branch Manager or COO

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine bank teller tasks, including opening new accounts, updating contact information, making deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and cash advances, receiving loan payments, and cashing checks, confirming accuracy of transactions.
  • Daily operation and management of the Teller Cash Recycler (TCR) machine. (Huntsville)
  • Maintain and balance the drawer on a daily basis by accounting for cash assigned, received, and disbursed.
  • Comply and stay updated with applicable bank procedures and regulations.
  • Promote strong customer and client interactions, build relationships and offer new products and features when warranted.
  • Demonstrate good risk management decisions, including displaying solid knowledge of guidelines for fraud prevention and robbery. Evaluate checks to verify endorsements, dates, identification of persons receiving payments, bank names and overall legality of the documents.
  • Maintain a work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
  • Prepare monies for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.
  • Accurately close out the teller terminal and remit daily work to supervisor.
  • Assist with the ordering and inventory of branch supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Trustworthiness and the ability to act with integrity.
  • Thorough understanding of customer service.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience with cash handling, customer service, and/or sales experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • May need to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
