Mercy Housing is Hiring a Front Desk Specialist - Sunnydale Community Hub Near San Francisco, CA

Under direct supervision of the Community Center Operations Manager, The Community Life Front Desk Specialist is responsible for providing the highest level of customer service to community members, prospective members, and guests at The Community Center (The Hub). The Community Center will provide inclusive spaces for community members to gather, learn, play, and make connections.

The Community Life Front Desk Specialist assists community members with membership, program registration and connects community members to neighborhood resources and Mercy’s Community Life staff. Additionally, they are responsible for communicating community center policies, and maintaining an inviting and hospitable community space. This role assists with communication and outreach efforts, monitors visitors in and out of the building, and responds to resident inquires, problems and emergencies as appropriate.

Pay: $21.55-32.32/hour DOE

Duties:

  • Utilizes trauma-informed strategies to maintain an inviting, friendly, and hospitable lobby in the front desk area.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area.
  • Professionally greet all guests who enter the community center.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to members, prospective members, and guests.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service oriented manner.
  • Assists community members with membership applications and program registration forms.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One -year of front desk experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One -year of front desk experience at a community center, recreation facility, or other non-profit human services organization
  • Two-years work experience in social services or customer service-related field.
  • Graphic Design skill
  • Experience applying the principles of conflict management, and organizing groups, events, or programs.
  • Experience maintaining websites, and other social media accounts (ie: Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

  • Communicate clearly with visitors and residents.
  • Ability to remain calm and de-escalate in a variety of situations.
  • Decide when an incident is an emergency and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Function effectively in an environment with diverse cultures, multiple perspectives, and lines of authority.
  • Ability to treat a variety of people with respect and compassion.
  • Flexible, resourceful, creative, and able to take initiative.
