Revenue Cycle Specialist

Job Summary:

The Revenue Cycle Specialist coordinates all activities related to the revenue-generating tasks associated with the laboratory outreach patient encounter. The Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for training lab registration staff, monitoring performance, ability to provide error-free work in a fast-pasted environment, and providing feedback to the staff. 

Essential Functions: 

• Analyzes and resolves patient billing issues that may arise in a timely and accurate manner by providing excellent, customer-focused service
• Reviews and monitors all lab encounters for appropriate demographics, insurance, and testing information 
• Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
• Monitor patient inquiries and acts a liaison between cross-functional departments
• Communicates with patient, vendors, and other departments in support of department functions 
• Screens encounter for valid/ICD-10 diagnosis codes to make the appropriate request from the client for any encounters which need to be reviewed by following compliance guidelines 
• Other duties as assigned

Education:

• High School Degree or GED

Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience in billing or insurance required 
• Experience using Microsoft Excel required 

Skills & Abilities:

• Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
