POSITION TITLE: Training Institute Development Coordinator

POSITION TYPE: Full-time (40 hours); non-exempt

PAY RANGE: $30-$32/hourly

REPORTS TO: Senior Training Manager

HOURS:

  • 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday
  • Some schedule flexibility may be required for urgent situations
  • Some travel may be required including going into office in San Francisco

ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF SAN FRANCISCO (MHASF):

MHASF is a mental health peer-run nonprofit located in downtown San Francisco and has been serving people and agencies across the Bay Area since 1947. As mental health consumers, we center the lived expertise of people with mental health challenges in our advocacy, education, and support programs. We believe that dignity and recovery in mental health are something everyone can experience. Our staff is dedicated to creating spaces for learning and healing around stigmatized and under-resourced areas in mental health-hoarding and cluttering behavior; post-hospitalization peer support; mental health and nutrition; peer mental health workforce development; and much more.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

We are seeking a dedicated Training Coordinator to join our mental health organization and coordinate the development and delivery of Training Institute programming. This multifaceted role involves training staff for internal development, researching, designing, and delivering specialized trainings for external organizations to generate revenue, and managing administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations. The Training Institute (TI) Coordinator will be under direct supervision of the Senior Training Institute Manager and is responsible for creating, supporting, and executing peer-based community trainings for and on behalf of MHASF. The Training Institute Development Coordinator will support coordination of MHASF Staff and external community trainings, training consultations, training design, curriculum development, and maintenance of training data, best practices, and educational trends.

TOP 3 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting trainings and research related to mental health education, peer recovery, stigma reduction, crisis de-escalation and other trainings offered by MHASF to enhance skills and knowledge of internal staff and external organizations
  • Maintaining and updating training content, schedule of trainings, pre/post evaluations, database records, and online learning materials housed in TI Learning Management System
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Outreach Team to establish and maintain community partners and stakeholder relationships to increase training opportunities and generate revenue

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives through feedback mechanisms and performance evaluations, adjusting programs as needed.
  • Research training trends and client needs to identify opportunities for offering mental health training services to external organizations for a fee
  • Conduct regular maintenance of training materials, including research and curriculum development, and reviewing presentation design
  • Developing and routinely updating TI operational documents, including annual training revenue and calendar schedule of trainings
  • Deliver high-quality and advanced facilitation training sessions to MHASF and external organizations, ensuring content relevance and participant engagement.
  • Schedule and facilitate community presentations, participate in tabling events (both in-person and virtual), and perform other outreach activities across a variety of platforms based on needs
  • Work with MHASF departments who need TI support around developing and facilitating trainings
  • Routinely update and monitor TI informational dashboards, trackers, training evaluations data and activity logs
  • Administer the client lifecycle management process, including contract negotiations, invoicing, and relationship management.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases for tracking training activities, participant feedback, and revenue generation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external trainees, addressing inquiries and resolving issues effectively.
  • Foster new community partnerships that expand program's cultural and linguistic thresholds

POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Deep commitment to upholding the mission of MHASF and embody its values: peer-based support and recovery, and a commitment to equity-based teaching and learning practices
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in the social sciences, public health, social welfare, education, or four or more years of professional experience that corresponds with the responsibilities for this position as noted above.
  • Proficiency in public speaking and facilitating presentations
  • Professional computer skills related to online learning, including PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel,
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS), and web-based communication tools (Slack, Formstack, Microsoft 365)
  • Ability to facilitate trainings on the topics of peer-based mental health, mental health stigma and discrimination, and the peer recovery movement
  • Ability to work effectively and responsively with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Experience with community engagement strategies, health disparities, and culturally responsive education
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to organize and present complex information in a clear, accurate and concise manner
  • Highly organized and resourceful, attention to detail, ability to manage time well in order to accomplish all key tasks and support the coordination of multiple projects
  • Behavioral health knowledge, including familiarity with mental health challenges, substance use issues, and Medical/Recovery models
  • Willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment, and responsive to feedback
  • Experience taking initiative to self-educate about unfamiliar subjects or concepts
  • Bilingual/Bi-cultural individuals are strongly encouraged to apply
