Mental Health Assistance Center is Hiring a Controller Near Tulsa, OK

The Controller is responsible for overseeing and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, cash flow maintenance, preparation of financial statements and coordination of the annual audit. The Controller is responsible for providing intensive and timely assistance to the CFO, Senior Leadership, other departments within the Association, the Finance Committee, and the Board.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support aspects of accounting and grant management (billing, reporting, draws, filings, etc)
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
  • Preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, along with explanations for significant variations from the budget.
  • Manage journal entries and ensure that all accounts are being reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Assists in preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Oversee preparation before and assistance during the annual audit.
  • Assists with various administrative duties within the Association as needed, including, consulting with staff members and volunteers on projects, events, budgets, financials matters and new initiatives.
  • Supervises, advises, appraises, and takes corrective action as necessary.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Proven experience as Controller or similar role.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a business, finance, or related field.
    • CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
    • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, experience in Non-Profit
    • Accounting and/or with Federal, State, or Local grants is preferred.
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, forecasts, reporting).
    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of non-profit financial statements.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Working knowledge
    • of Microsoft Office and experience with data management systems. Must be able to systematically.
    • gather relevant information and apply logic to solving problems and making decisions; interprets various types of data.
    • Ability to manage relationships with internal and external partners.
    • Works well in a team environment; self-motivated; results oriented.
    • Other duties as assigned.

      WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

      • Work is performed in climate-controlled office setting, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is unlikely.
      • Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (printers, fax machine, phones, etc.)
      • No environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.
      • Work requires a flexible work schedule due to internal and external meetings. Occasional travel may be required; must have reliable transportation.
      • Physical ability to move 25 pounds on occasion.
      • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and staff behavior.
      • Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).
      • Ability to safely and properly use office equipment.
      • Position is largely sedentary, subject to repetitive motion.
