Mental Health America of Utah is a non-profit in Salt Lake City, UT. We believe there are many paths to mental wellness and work to respect and assist individuals in finding their individual path. Individuals affected by mental illness should be treated with respect and dignity. Individuals with lived experience should be represented at every level of policy and service development. “Nothing about us without us.”.

Duties:
- Provide peer support and assistance to individuals with mental health challenges
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage and empower clients
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Assist clients in navigating the mental health system and accessing community resources, helping them put together their own safety plan, doing W.R.A.P plan.
- Facilitate support groups and educational workshops for individuals with similar experiences, be a part of the cooking and keeping the house maintained
- Share personal recovery stories to inspire hope and promote resilience
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions
Requirements:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification
- Lived experience with mental health challenges and successful recovery
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals
- Knowledge of local mental health resources and systems
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Understanding of ethical guidelines for peer support services
