POSITION TITLE: Mental Health First Aid – Training Facilitator

SALARY RANGE: $46,000-$48,000, Non-exempt, Full Time
REPORTS TO: MHFA Program Manager
Work Schedule: MHASD operates on a 40-hour work week; typical schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, flexibility is required due to the nature of business. Schedule may be changed as needed to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
Program Overview: Mental Health First Aid is a non-clinical, evidence-based program designed to educate general adult and youth members of the various communities within San Diego County including rural areas to recognize risk factors and signs of existing and/or emerging mental health issues. As a mental health advocacy organization, Mental Health America of San Diego (MHASD) is dedicated to the provision of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training courses throughout San Diego County and has been providing trainings to diverse community members since July 2008.
MHFA Training Facilitator - Responsibilities:
· MHFA Program Facilitator will work closely with Program Manager and Program Coordinator.
· The primary role of training facilitators is to teach the Mental Health First Aid 8-hour interactive courses with fidelity to the core program model and key messages.
· Teach MHFA Public Safety Courses.
· Training facilitators will ensure there are manuals for all their participants, prepare course materials, compile resources, and provide participant evaluations.
· Apply appropriate techniques for adult learners.
· Effectively provide mental health literacy education to adults, community members, business and agency staff that serve adult/youth population, serve as a liaison to partners.
· Outreach to the community and garner interest in the program.
· Collect and analyze data and other information as required by the contracting agency.
· Begin trainings on time in an orderly, organized fashion.
· Use effective motivation to help stimulate a personal desire to learn the subject/skill(s).
Qualifications:
· Minimum of an AA degree in a related field.
· Must be able to attend and pass MHFA training and certification process for instructors that will be provided by MHASD and MHFA National. Must maintain certification as an Instructor for Adults and Adults Working with Youth.
· 2-3 years experience with conducting trainings.
· Strong customer service and problem solving skills.
· Computer skills including: Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Etc.
· Background check will be conducted.
· Must have current CA Driver License and current car insurance.
