POSITION TITLE: Director of Community Support Services

SALARY RANGE: $90,000 – $100,000, Full-time, exempt

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Work Schedule: MHASD operates on a 40-hour work week; typical schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, flexibility is required due to the nature of business. Schedule may be changed as needed to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Position Summary: Provides administrative oversight including coordination and supervision to the community support services programs of MHASD. Provides clinical oversight and supervision to license-eligible clinicians who make up a percentage of staff working in the community services programs. Ensures seamless team management and development, program delivery and evaluation, public relations/interface and networking, training and strong advocacy skills. Performs a wide variety of administrative functions including program reviews, monitoring and evaluation, ensuring all data reporting and programmatic reports are accurate, complete and submitted on time. Enhances and strengthens program services and public awareness. Fosters innovation and new approaches to care.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees implementation of contractual obligations and requirements of MHASD programs which includes but is not limited to periodic preparation and submission of reports, annual site visits.
  • Prepares and maintains the annual budget in collaboration with the Executive Director of Mental Health America of San Diego.
  • Provides clinical supervision to license-eligible program staff who are part of the Community Program Services team.
  • Work with staff to develop objective performance measurements across all programs, to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation, and goals setting.
  • Provides workforce development by conducting training to further the knowledge and skills of staff, instilling a sense of accountability, promoting team cohesion, and developing a positive team spirit among all program staff and volunteers.
  • Designing and developing an overall program strategy in conjunction with the Executive Director.
  • Drafting and maintaining reports central to the member services efforts.
  • Participates in ongoing program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assists in fund raising efforts.
  • Teaches and promotes healthy and effective communication across all Community Services programs.
  • Oversees and manages day-to-day operations.
  • Represents the program as requested, before government agencies, civic organizations, and community groups, including meetings, forums, hearings and media events.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Professional Clinical Counseling, plus equivalent experience in a mental health non-profit or similar organization.
  • Holds a current license in the field of Marriage & Family Therapy (LMFT), clinical Social Work (LCSW), or Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) for more than 2 years and have practiced psychotherapy or supervised license-eligible therapists for at least 2 years within the 5 year period preceding supervision.
  • Three years of experience in organizational management and leadership.
  • Working knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and telephone/fax systems.
  • Computer literate: Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Spanish language skills desirable.
  • The ability to use conflict management techniques and facilitate group decision making processes is strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of mental health community involvement, development, and outreach desirable.
  • Background check will be conducted. Must pass Child Abuse Clearance, hold an active driver’s license and have current auto insurance coverage.

Employment with MHASD is on an “At Will” basis. MHASD complies will all Federal, State, and Local Laws.
