Part-Time Associate Attorney (Healthcare & Technology Transactions)

Want to work on challenging and innovative legal issues that require strategic and creative thinking, for a law firm that cares about improving health care delivery, privacy, security, and technology? You’ll be responsible for negotiating and drafting information technology and healthcare contracts, advising clients on current privacy and security frameworks and requirements as well as data use and data sharing across multiple jurisdictions, and advising clients on healthcare laws that impact provider contracting and healthcare services. You’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and work on cutting-edge legal issues that impact people in their daily lives. You must have a license to practice law in the state where you are physically present; 5 years of transactional, regulatory, and technology legal experience; and previous law firm experience. This is a part-time, hourly position.

• Provide excellent client service, including meeting deadlines.
• Review, revise, and draft a variety of healthcare and information technology contracts.
• Draft contract provisions to the specific transaction and client’s unique needs.
• Review federal and state healthcare and privacy and security laws and provide legal advice to clients in a way that will allow them to operationalize the obligations.
• Review and respond to correspondence from clients, opposing counsel, and regulators.
• Provide input on creating and improving the Firm's systems, processes, and procedures to best serve the Firm's clients.
• Maintain, update, and manage the client file, transaction status, and tasks using the Firm's practice management system.

Qualified candidates will have:

• Previous law firm experience.
• Florida Bar license.
• Strong desire and demonstrated capability to work on complex legal matters in an uncertain regulatory environment.
• 5 years experience crafting contract provisions to the specific transaction and client’s unique needs.
• 5 years experience drafting a variety of technology agreements, developing policies and procedures, and providing legal advice on compliance matters.
• 5 years experience with advising clients on healthcare regulatory compliance, including the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark.
• Experience with various privacy and security regulations and frameworks, including HIPAA and NIST.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent client services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal principles to non-experts in a succinct and understandable manner.
• Self-starter who holds self and others responsible for outcomes and deadlines.
• Collegial and collaborative mindset, with a client-first attitude.
• Able to effectively and concisely communicate using all common business channels (e.g., email, telephone, meetings, video calls, screen sharing, etc.), use standard law firm products (e.g., Lexis Advance and WestLaw's Practical Law), and find information online.
• Competent and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word (including use of Styles), Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and timekeeping, document management, and practice management software.
