About the Position

The Operator II is responsible for the manufacture of parts per manufacturing unit specifications in an accurate and timely manner utilizing manual and semi-automatic machine centers. Operate one or more machines to perform simple machine operations on highly repetitive and standardized parts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Observe and follow safety rules as prescribed by the safety policies, including wearing required PPE.
  • Complete an expected amount of work based on time studies in accordance with schedule.
  • Able to operate all necessary equipment in a proficient manner.
  • Operate and adjust semi-automatic or automatic numerically controlled machine equipment to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations on one or more simple machines, where programs are proved and setups are made by others.
  • Check work at specified points.
  • Adjust machine setups to maintain finish and tolerance requirements.
  • Work from part drawings and use calipers to check and inspect work before and after completion.
  • Recognize and report machine malfunctions, tooling difficulties, etc.
  • Under supervision, work procedures and products are subject to check and inspection.
  • Meets with engineers to discuss potential machine problems.
  • Observe and follow safety rules.
  • Clean work area per 5S rules and instructions.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, additional training from trade school preferred
  • Requires 1 - 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Requires a general knowledge of tooling applications.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications and routings.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations.
  • Must perform metric conversions.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.

  • During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.
