Job Description:


Maintenance Technician II

Summary

The Maintenance Technician II primarily responsibility for facility maintenance including preventive maintenance, machine repair, tool repair and maintenance of the general facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters/multimeter and other testing devices
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing or repairs
  • Establish Routine and advanced machine maintenance schedules and document all actions in Maintenance software.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or bells, checking fluid levels replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions
  • Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Makes suggestions and makes decisions for infrastructure and building maintenance and renovations along with equipment and machine modifications and maintenance schedules.
  • Maintains building and critical parts inventory in maintenance software and keeps detailed records of changes to the existing building, equipment, machines and performed maintenance.
  • Verify accuracy of vendor billing data and revises any errors.
  • Observe and follow safety rules as outlined in the Safety Policy
  • Observe and follow company policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Perform necessary tasks to maintain area safety and 5S initiatives
  • Perform regular housekeeping of the workstation assigned
  • Helps as required in other areas as needed to support company and plant goals
  • Assist with all department duties in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with company policy and practices
  • Plays an active role on the safety improvement team, performs GEMBA walks and leads a monthly employees safety meeting at required intervals.
  • Complete any additional special assignments as assigned

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, additional training from trade school preferred
  • Accredited apprenticeship or equivalent training together with 3 - 5 years’ experience in machine shop.
  • Experience implementing/managing a TPM program in industrial environments
  • Licensed electrician and/or relevant experience working with Industrial equipment with different voltages 440V, 220V, 110V.
  • PLC experience.
  • Experience working on plastic extrusion equipment is a big plus.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and metric system.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English, ability to speak Italian is a plus.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.
