Meeting Street Schools is Hiring a Spanish Teacher (2024-25 Academic Year) Near Charleston, SC

Meeting Street Academy - Charleston is seeking a dynamic educator to lead the development of Spanish fluency for all students in grades K-5 at our downtown campus. We would like to pilot a new concept of Spanish language instruction, so only the creative and expansive should apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support outstanding academic achievement and student character development
  • Build classroom community and relationships with families, participating in a powerful team that ensures all students make outstanding academic progress
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of subject matter content
  • Support students through direct and small group instruction
  • Plan and supervise purposeful support and development for Teaching Fellows and/or teacher assistants
  • Use an Understanding by Design framework to create standards-based lesson plans Adapt teaching for the benefit of each student and collaborate with other educators for support and ideas
  • Assess student learning on a consistent basis and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Commit to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration
  • Model MSS’ Path to Success skills and supports the development of those skills in students and peers
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Educational Background and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Certification and qualification as set by the State Board of Education for Elementary School and foreign language endorsements
  • Prior experience teaching in under-resourced communities preferred

Salary for this position begins at $49,000 and is competitive and commensurate with experience. Additionally, Meeting Street Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package
