Meeker County is Hiring a Part Time 911 Dispatcher Near Litchfield, MN

Job Description
This classification is responsible for operating the 911 system to receive and dispatch emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency services. Responsibilities may include: receiving and processing emergency calls; monitoring several public safety radio frequencies; determining priorities and dispatching police, fire, ambulance or other emergency units in accordance with established procedures; maintaining contact with all units on assignment; entering, updating and retrieving information from a variety of computer systems. Job Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Receives and processes emergency and non-emergency calls; monitors public safety radio communication systems; sends out notifications and alerts; and determines priorities and dispatches police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency units in accordance with established procedures.
Enters, updates, and retrieves information into/from a variety of computer systems; prepares and maintains files, letters, records, and other documentation; ensures informational accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Facilitates office operations by responding to inquiries from the public and other internal and external staff; opening and locking assigned facility doors; and training new staff when necessary.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: -

Computers and related software applications;
Recordkeeping principles;
Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations;
Customer service principles;
Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment;
Modern office technology.

Remaining calm in stressful situations;
Operating multi-line phone systems;
Keyboarding;
Reading maps;
Maintaining records and logs;
Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards;
Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications;
Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Additional Information

1. Must pass a physical exam.
2. Must pass a psychological exam.
3. Must pass extensive background check
SALARY: B23, $23.81 - $31.98
