SUMMARY: TheCommunity Engagement Specialist is the primary contact person for arranging participation by volunteers for MedNorth Health Center events and programs. Theindividual in this position will also attend events and provide continuous support to volunteers as well as collaborate with local agencies in strengthening the visibility of MedNorth services. As a Certified Application Counselor, theCommunity Engagement Specialist provides patient enrollment assistance into eligible insurance programs. This position also provides administrative support that includes forms development, marketing materials, social media and other clerical support.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills, and/or ability required:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimum associate degree and 2 years working in a community resources capacity (in health care) or combined work equivalent experience.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Experience with creating spread sheets, and the knowledge of MS Office, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: Strong computer skills with proficiencies in Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, and internet-based applications. Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, photocopiers, and facsimile machines - Ability to learn, understand, and use internet insurance eligibility systems.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent oral and communication skills. Possess the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population. Excellent telephone and public speaking skills. Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks.
MENTAL ABILITIES: Cognitive reasoning - Clear thinking in high-pressure situations - Ability to prioritize and withstand pressure of continual work with variable requirements - Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy despite frequent interruptions - Critical thinking and organization skills, problem solving, and reasoning capabilities - Must be able to identify a problem, identify possible solutions, make a decision on one of the possible solutions, implement the decision, and evaluate the results.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak English fluently - Spanish speaking is a plus.

MedNorth Health Center provides comprehensive health care services, inside a multi-cultural medical/dental clinic, to all individuals; insured, uninsured, and underinsured. The building is heated in winter and air conditioned in the summer with noise levels of moderate to loud. We serve patients who speak multiple languages and who may need the assistance of an interpreter. In this position one may be subject to exposure to copier toner, correction fluid, bright fluorescent lighting, and continuous personal computer exposure.
This job is a Blood borne Pathogens risk category III position.
