Medlinkhealth is Hiring an American Sign Language Interpreter Near Frederick, MD

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: The Maryland School for the Deaf. The Interpreters will be covering services to both campuses (Frederick and Columbia).

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: Three (3) Year Base Contract – July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027

SCOPE OF WORK

  • The Interpreter shall be physically present at the Maryland School for the Deaf location specified by the authorized representative of the Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) for a minimum of two (2) hours per assignment
  • The Interpreter may be required to travel off-campus to neighboring DMV areas (adjoining states of Maryland) in order to accompany MSD staff and students attending events that require ASL translation. Previous events have included athletic events, Deaf and Hard of Hearing conventions and lobbying affairs.
  • No certification needed for some assignments. The Maryland School for the Deaf will need a Certified Interpreter in order to fulfill certain State law requirements. These specific needs will be taken into consideration on a case by case basis.
  • Cancellations due to inclement weather conditions, acts of God, riots, or other reasons beyond the control of MSD are not reimbursable. It is the Agency’s/Interpreter’s responsibility to watch for announcements on school closings due to emergencies or inclement weather. School cancellations will be messaged thru Facebook, Twitter, MSD’s website, and local TV stations
  • If an assignment is canceled with the Agency with less than 48 hours’ notice, the Interpreter must be available and willing to accept other interpreting work during the same scheduled time period.
  • If a scheduled Agency assignment is canceled more than 48 hours (including weekends and holidays) in advance, the agency receives no payment for the scheduled assignment.
  • Each day of a multi-day assignment is considered a separate assignment for purposes of cancellation. For example, the assignment is for 3 days at 4 hours per day. However, if the assignment is canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, the billable day will be 1 day at 4 hours.
  • The Agency/Vendor will be available to provide In Person, Virtual, and VRI (Video Remote Interpreting) services.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • ASL interpreter: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Frederick, MD: Relocate before starting work (Required)
