Director of Retail

Medinah Country Club is seeking an experienced retail expert to join our team as the Director of Retail. Job Summary:

The Director of Retail is a key member of the golf club's management team responsible for overseeing all aspects of the retail operation within the club. This role involves curating a diverse selection of golf-related merchandise, managing inventory, maximizing sales, and providing an exceptional shopping experience for members and guests. The Director of Retail is also responsible for supervising retail team and collaborating with other departments to enhance the overall golf club experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Train, motivate and develop members of the golf team to ensure effective performance and growth through consistent on-the-job training.

• Complete forecasting evaluating financial components based on current trends and knowledge of future events impacting business.
• Develop strategies to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize business performance and profitability.
• Manage vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives.
• Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors.
• Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales and studying trends.
• Develop and execute seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies.
• Ensure availability of merchandise and services by approving orders, maintaining inventories.
• Exhibit the highest level of customer service to our members and their guests.
• Promote the facility programs, events, and image to the membership.
• Communicate in a professional manner and tone with team members of all departments.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Proactively manage daily workflow to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Study the tournament/event calendar to promote sales during themed events.
• Take ownership of your work.

Qualifications

• Proven minimum 5 years’ experience in retail golf management in private club or resort.
• Minimum 4-year college degree or equivalent OTJ experience
• Strong understanding of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and point-of-sale systems.
• Leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Moderate noise level and distraction in the work environment.
• Able to lift 20lbs.
