Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for creating, planning, developing, managing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive fundraising program to ensure maximum fundraising potential is achieved for the MUSC College of Nursing. This position reports jointly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and the MUSC Executive Director of Development, Institutional Advancement. The position, as facilitated by the Dean and Deans Administrative team of the College of Nursing works with faculty, alumni and students, central and constituent development staff, and University leadership and administration. Primary emphasis is on successful major gift identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.Entity

Job Description
All gift procurement efforts and activities shall be aligned directly to the stated philanthropic funding priorities and initiatives of the Dean of the MUSC College of Nursing. This will be a dynamic plan and may include such giving opportunities as building renovations, endowed chairs and distinguished professorships, student scholarships, programmatic endowments, faculty and student development, outreach and unrestricted needs. Within the development plan, this position works collaboratively, as well as independently, with the Dean, College of Nursing, and the Executive Director of Development, Institutional Advancement while conferring with the Dean and the Executive Director to define short and long term goals and objectives. Job performance will be reviewed annually in terms of ability to meet previously defined goals and objectives. This position manages one development team/staff member.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and four years relevant program experience.
Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and four to five years professional experience in fundraising, preferably at a university, college, health care institution or closely related field involving personal calls on individual, corporate and foundation prospects.
A proven track record in major gifts solicitations (gifts in excess of $25,000)
Experience in recruiting and managing a volunteer college of nursing development board or advisory committee.
Travel as well as occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Proficiency with fundraising software and donor databases. Raiser's Edge experience is preferred.
Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to successfully interact with individuals of influence and affluence.
Ability to work effectively within a team-based environment.
Strong decision-making skills, tact, discretion, and ability to work with confidential information.
Above average computer skills and creative abilities to ensure effective production of funding proposals and gift request presentations.
Outstanding organizational, project management and administrative skills.
Must be able to carry files and portable computer equipment.
A significant amount of visual concentration and computer work are required.
